This is a very common sight for us – tired concrete flagging of the 1970s which has passed its sell-by date and become uneven and discoloured.
We removed the old flags and substrate, laid a new bed of compacted limestone in-fill and set about replacing the old flags with new Indian Flags to as near the design of the old patio as possible. We incorporated upstands to the front edge adjacent to the flower beds and paid great attention to the slope, ensuring that the house damp proof course was not breached and the air bricks still functioned correctly.
