The customer wanted his front garden making easier to manage but wanted to keep his roses and conifers. We discussed various options with him and his final preference was for a simple design of raised beds to re-house his roses with the rest of the area to be laid to gravel interspersed with pavers.
We removed the lawn and unwanted shrubs and plants, evened out the surface and constructed two raised beds from new-sawn Oak sleepers. The shape and size of these beds complemented the rose bed already contained within the block-paved driveway. The beds were filled with new top-soil and the roses transplanted.
Finally, the pavers were laid to give a stepping stone pathway to connect the driveway and the beds, the remaining area then covered with weed-supressing fabric, and 3 tonne of 20mm Quartzite gravel spread to finish the project.
