What areas do you cover?

We are based in Bingley, West Yorkshire and generally service the Aire Valley from Calverley to Skipton and the surrounding area, as well as Ilkley and Otley in Wharfedale.

Do you offer a Free quotation?

We will visit you and provide a no-obligation quote or estimate at no charge.

Do you provide a written quotation

We will normally provide you with a detailed written fixed-price quotation to include all labour, materials, hire and delivery charges. Just occasionally the price may have to be an Estimate if we cannot be certain about certain elements of the work, but we will always discuss this with you on our initial visit.

Can you create a design?

We are equally happy to work with a design presented to us or to draw up a design for you after discussing your requirements. This would form part of the free quotation process.

Does size matter?

We are happy to take on any size of job from replacing a single flag-stone or fence panel to a full garden make-over, and anything in between.

What happens if the plan changes mid-job?

Whether you change your requirements, we see a better option, or we hit a problem we will discuss this situation with you, and once agreed we will provide you with a revised written quotation in order to cover both parties.

How soon can you start?

This very much depends on the current workload and the time of year. We will give you a realistic date for the commencement of work and try our best to stick to it, always keeping you up to date.

Do you charge VAT?

We are not registered for VAT. You pay only the quoted price with no hidden extras.

Are you insured?

We have comprehensive Public Liability Insurance cover through AXA which is specifically tailored to our field of work.

What are your payment terms?

We will prepare a Final Account and ask for payment within 7 days. This can be settled with a cheque or BACS Transfer in preference to cash in order to maintain traceability and for the security of both parties. We do not take payment in advance but may discuss with you the possibility of a deposit or interim payments on larger jobs.

What about access?

We operate with four-wheel drive vehicles so rough ground is not normally an issue for us. However, restricted access could be an issue for delivery lorries. We will assess this on our initial visit.

Will I need planning consent?

There are certain aspects of our work that require Planning Consent such as raised decking or tall fences (see Other : Construction Tips and Information). Application for this is the responsibility of the homeowner, but we are happy to assist with relevant plans and drawings for which a charge may be made.

Do I have to be on site when you are?

We are generally self-sufficient so do not necessarily need to have you in attendance. Our equipment is powered by petrol engines or batteries, and we can even bring our own water supply. Just occasionally an electrical power supply may be required. If we need to discuss the work with you we may take a daytime telephone number or we will make a point of meeting with you at a convenient time.

What if I need to cancel a booked job?

Unfortunately, this can happen from time to time. Should this be the case, your only liability would be to cover any costs incurred on your behalf to that point, such as return and re-stocking charges for materials, or hire charges, and perhaps a nominal administration charge.

Cancellation by RBL?

We will not take on any work that we are unable to see through, and once started, our intention is always to complete the job. If forces beyond our control mean that we have to give back-word then we will give you as much warning as possible. We are unable to offer any compensation.

Do you use reputable & local suppliers?

We consistently use local suppliers of building and fencing materials. This gives us confidence in knowing the materials that we are designing and working with, and quoting you for. It also means that we are supporting the local community and can be sure of prices and delivery. However, if you have a specific product you want using then we will gladly look at this.

Do you undertake insurance work?

We are more than happy to provide a detailed quotation for insurance work.

Do you undertake boundary work?

We take on all types of boundary work – fencing, walls, hedging, trees, dry stone walling. Boundaries between properties can be a contentious issue, and so we will always want to confirm ownership to ensure that we have permission to proceed (see Other : Construction Tips and Information).

Can you correct other contractor’s poor work?

We do not correct poor work by other contractors. We pride ourselves on putting our name to a first class job taken from start to finish.
