Slide to see before & after.

We were approached by the daughter of an elderly couple living in Addingham who wanted their garden reducing in size and making more manageable.  Her father had recently suffered a stroke and the couple now found it difficult to look after their fairly extensive back garden although they still enjoyed gardening.

This garden was on two levels, laid to lawn with flower beds immediately outside the back of the house, and a lower shrubbery beyond, the whole of the garden enjoying wide-ranging views over the neighbouring countryside and golf course.

We agreed a design to effectively screen off the lower garden by extending the upper lawned area by means of a block retainer, in-filled and landscaped with paving, finished with raised beds and safety fencing.  This created an easily accessed seating area where the couple could sit and enjoy the views in safety and comfort.  The flanking raised flowerbeds were constructed from softwood sleepers and built to dimensions that made them easy to maintain.  Finally the lawn was widened by the removal of the flower borders, shrubs and uneven pathway.
